Those days of warmth were a nice reprieve but we are getting dunked right back into the chilly temperatures again. Rather than our air conditioners, the heaters are all starting to hum back to life. At least, you hope so.
If your heating system isn’t operating correctly, you may have a problem on your hands. Depending on a couple of factors, you may actually have a bigger issue than you might think—a heater replacement to be specific.
We know it sounds scary, but don’t panic. We can help you determine whether you need a heater replacement or not and if so, we offer services for your HVAC system that will get you set up with a good heater again in no time.
Do You Need to Furnace Repair or Replace?
If your furnace is starting to have trouble keeping your home warm, or even if it isn’t working at all, you should make sure that you are scheduling the right service. Contact our team of professional technicians for a replacement service if:
- Your heater is over 15 years old. Furnaces are built to last but not to last forever. A well-maintained furnace should function well for a good 15 years but after that it is a good idea to start preparing to replace your heater before it breaks down during a time when you need it the most.
- You’ve gotten more than one repair service in the last year. Repairs are a normal thing when you have any kind of HVAC system but they shouldn’t be frequent. Needing a yearly repair is a warning sign that your system is having problems; twice a year means it is failing.
- Your heater isn’t producing any warmth at all. Your heater is meant to warm your home. If the heater isn’t doing this key thing and no amount of repairs will help it, you are better of replacing it with a new system that will actually get the job done.
- Repairs have gotten too expensive. Let’s say you are only needing one repair a year. While this is still edging on too many, it could be normal if your furnace is getting older. What isn’t normal is if the repair that you need is overly expensive. If the repair price is equal to or more than half of what it would cost for a new system, it is better to simply opt for a new heater.
We may live in Southern California but that doesn’t mean it can’t get cold. When the temperatures drop, make sure that your heater is going to be able to provide you with the warmth you need, rather than loud noises and disappointment. The sooner you do this the better off you will be too. It can be tempting to see if you can ride it out until next winter but if you do you may have trouble finding a good time to get the replacement done. Save yourself the time and stress and schedule your heater services ASAP.
